Technology Park

Welcome to Oranges & Lemons Technology Park where we provide a safe and secure environment for children from birth to 5 years of age, to learn, play and develop.  We are open Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm and registered to care for up to 98 children.

Our nursery is situated in the new Technology Park on Explorer Road in Dundee.  We are close to Ninewells Hospital and with easy access from Kingsway.  We benefit from a secure entry system, a large car park offering easy drop off and collection, an electric car charging point and even under floor heating throughout our nursery.

We provide a broad and balanced curriculum that provides young people with the best possible learning opportunities and experiences.

We aim to actively include parents in our children’s learning.  We have already created learning sessions around backgrounds of some of our families, including topics on Japan, Poland, China, India and Sweden.

Our Rooms

We have dedicated rooms for each age group of children.  Within each of our rooms, activities are planned for the age and stage of each child with knowledgeable staff present to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all of our children.

We benefit from phenomenal spaces both indoors and outdoors.

Baby Room, 0-2 years

In our Baby Room our highly experienced staff team care for children under 2 years of age, our minimum staff ratio is 1:3 and where possible this number will be lower.

Our babies enjoy using our sensory room with parachute games, playing with sand/pasta for textural play, outdoor activities, songs, stories and much more.

Our baby room also has a separate cot room which offers babies a calm, relaxing and peaceful sleep time.

Toddlers, 2-3 years

Our toddlers and 2-3s (Staff ratio 1:5) both have separate quiet rooms for sleep and rest periods. All downstairs rooms have independent access to our spacious garden and all have their own toilet and nappy changing areas.

Our toddlers and 2-3s enjoy planting seeds or harvesting crops from our vegetable garden, learning about various topics such as Japan, including its culture, food and music, outdoor time on our bikes, time in the forest patch, making objects from loose parts, stories, songs and glitter/sand/pasta play… to name a few!

Pre School, 3-5 years

We have 6 playrooms on the upper level of our nursery for our 3-5 year olds (Staff ratio 1:8). We have a large red room which links to a quiet room, then onto a home and snack area. At the other end, we have a large blue room which links to our construction zone then to our creative arts and messy room. We have two separate toilet and changing rooms situated on the upper level which lead directly to our spacious garden.  There’s no typical day at Technology Park but activities for our 3-5s could include:  Finding letters in our mud patch, cooking with the vegetables grown in our garden, shared topics e.g. Antarctica, stories and songs, outdoor puzzles and games.

Our Garden & Outdoor Play

Being active is, and should be, a big part of life and is a core element of our nursery ethos. Here at Technology Park we make the most of our wonderful outdoor space by getting our children outside every day.

We benefit from having access to the most amazing outdoor space including our very own forest area! We encourage as much outdoor learning as possible in this beautiful, natural zone.  Our extensive outdoor space consists of a variety of designated areas for each age group. Children grow vegetables in our recycled greenhouse and various vegetable patches in the garden. Our 3-5s garden has an adjoining secluded wooded area which our children have named “The Mudpatch”. This space offers multiple learning opportunities in a natural environment right on our door step which is unique to the city of Dundee.

Learning and Development

We promote play based education throughout and adhere to national guidance from The Curriculum for Excellence; Pre Birth to Three; Getting It Right for Every Child; Building the Ambition; How Good is our Early Learning and Childcare and local guidance from Learning Together in Dundee. Responsive planning is key to the learning opportunities and experiences we offer where the learning topics come directly from our children. Children share their ideas and thoughts through mind maps which staff implement into daily activities.

Our nursery is in partnership with Dundee City Council and we have well established links with other professionals and settings within our community and city. We have a professional and dedicated staff team who work closely with parents and families to offer the best care and education. Our setting has a welcoming and respectful atmosphere.
